New Tax Incentive… Previously limited to $300 for central air conditioners and heat pumps and $150 for furnaces and boilers, the new tax law allows homeowners to claim 30 percent of the installation price up to $1,500 for higher-efficiency furnaces, boilers, air source heat pumps, central air conditioners, and hot water heaters in the 2009 and 2010 tax years. Wind, geothermal systems, and residential solar thermal systems now qualify for a 30 percent tax credit on the complete installation price of the system. |
